Beancounter was founded on a simple idea: accountants deserve support that makes their work easier, not harder. In 2006, our founder Denis Woods — an experienced accountant and practice owner — noticed how deadlines, bottlenecks, and increasing client demands overwhelmed firms across the country. Offshore outsourcing was being promoted as the solution, but it carried risks: privacy issues, quality concerns, and a loss of client trust.
So he set out to build something different.
From day one, Beancounter has been shaped by Denis and his skilled team, who all understand the realities of practice life. We know what it feels like to chase deadlines, juggle peak-season bottlenecks, and keep clients happy while running a tight ship. Our team of contractors – almost all of them are CA-qualified senior accountants with years of genuine New Zealand practice experience — live and work throughout the country. From Whanganui, where we are based, to accountants spread nationwide, we’ve built a team that understands the intricacies of New Zealand tax, legislation, and client expectations.
All of our systems development, data hosting, and security are entirely based in New Zealand.
